Sometimes my dark and crazy side comes out and my poor daughter just has to roll with it. She FREAKED when I asked her to stand by this tree. She slowly walked up to it and said "hurry mom, its freaking me out!!" haha.... so I really did try to hurry but I wasn't fast enough for her so she ran away just after I took this. I'm so glad I got this one though... sooooo cool and creepy!!

The next day was all about RELAXING! I called my cousin Holly who lives in San Diego and met her and her kids at Huntington Beach. We dug holes, searched for sea shells, and fed the birds.

The next morning we slept in, packed up, and headed to Joe's Crab Shack before heading home.

Disneyland adventures

It's only the beginning of summer and the kids are already going crazy!! They've been telling us how bored they are and how they just might DIE if they don't do something. A little over dramatic as you can tell!

So off to California we went.... All I have to say is that Tuesday night was the WORST car ride of my life. I swear my kids were being extra bad since they knew there was no way we would really turn the car around and go back home. It was a car ride full of STOP HITTING ME, STOP LOOKING AT ME, DON'T TOUCH ME!!! Poor Dustin just kept taking long deep breaths, breathing in and out...in and out... eventually they fell asleep. :)

The next morning we got up early, ate breakfast, and were off to Disneyland. As soon as we walked in we went straight to Space Mountain. I knew it was the "scariest" of all the rides in Disneyland and I needed to get it out of the way for Bryson. He's a little scared when it comes to rides but like the big kid that he is, he did every ride just like a pro. Scared face and all. Below are the pictures of our day at Disneyland and California Adventure.

We ended our Disneyland portion of the day with a Mickey Mouse Visit and then headed over to California Adventure.

We knew as soon as we walked into California Adventure that we wanted to head straight over to the new Toy Story ride and check it out. It was by far the longest line. We waited about 40 mins but if you ask the kids they would tell you it was well worth the wait and I have to say I totally AGREE!!

Back to the hotel we went, ate dinner, and went straight to bed. We were pooped!!

Where does time go????

It's been sooooo long since I've had time to blog.... who am I kidding?? I don't have time to wipe my butt these days. With kids, a husband, a full time job, oh and trying to launch a successful photography business.... ugg!

The kids are now on summer break and trying everything possible in those tiny little bodies of theirs to drive me absolutely cRaZy!!! Misson accomplished kiddos! So we're taking them to Disneyland/CA Adventure and the beach to hopefully burn off some energy. Please pray for me, pray that I have all the patients in the world as we stand in those lines. Even better pray for no lines!!

Dustin and I still love our jobs and all is well at Cox & NJOY!

Photography.... hahahahahaha well it's going.... as with any business adventure you constantly question yourself... do they like me.... what am I doing wrong.... when with this take off.... another added expense?? Oh I did get a pretty new 27" iMac! I think Dustin was more excited about that then I was!!

I did launch a new marketing campaign or something like it with a company called azcoups.com. It's like Groupon but not as expensive. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it brings in some new business. Groupon and companies like it can really hurt a photography business if not done right. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I really hope to keep up on blogging but don't I always...

So I'm a nut about craigslist. I swear that site was made just for me. I have purchased about 8 cars (SERIOUSLY!), 3 dogs (2 which have loving new homes now), a couch, a desk, an armoire, patio furniture, a foyer table, and most recently a lovely old buffet table. I've been looking for one for what seems like forever!! We just got finished with it and now it has a new home in my formal dining room!!

My grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer about 2 months ago and just recently had to have her right breast removed. She's the most amazing, kind, and strongest woman I know. She was such a trooper! The nurse asked her right before she took her back to the OR if she hurt anywhere and my grandma said just hear heart. Right then and there we all started crying.... after being strong for her over the last 2 months it all came down to this. Would she be ok? Would they get it all?

Now 2 weeks later she is cancer free and going strong. She's still in pain from the 290 staples she has in but that's getting better with each day.

Tuesday was her birthday and I decided to make her a card and have the kids help. I took them outside and had them hold up a sign that I later photoshopped in "We Love Grandma!" I also took a couple pictures of them making crazy faces to give her. She loved it and we love her!!

I just recently bought some new textures and actions so I have been itching to use them. Its just been so hot here that I haven't really had the energy to take any. Last night Rylee asked me to take her picture. She's such a ham and loves to have her picture taken. So I grabbed mt camera and we hopped in the car for a short ride around the corner. The sky was amazing and so was she!

I was looking at these that I took last night and some from just a couple months ago and WOW how she matured. She's not my little baby anymore.

Every year I try to think of new places to go or new things to try for the 4th and it never works out! So this year it was my mission as a good mom to make sure we all had a blast. I googled 4th of July in AZ and the first thing that popped up was PAYSON! So Payson it was. I called my mom, my dad, and my sister and invited them to partake as I always do and as always they declined... :( So I packed up my hubby and baby chicks and Payson we were bound. We ate at a very yummy Mexican food restaurant and then had some super yummy ice cream. Then we drove down by the park and sat by the lake to watch the fireworks. We were about 100 yards aways and the kids loved every second of it!

My BFF who is getting married in April 2011 wanted to go out dress shopping this past weekend. Well all you who know me know I can never pass up an opportunity to go shopping and especially for anything to do with weddings!! This is Stacie's 3rd time buying a dress. The first one God bless her was a MESS!! Nothing like her, its was so over whelming and the PEARLS...oh my the PEARLS!!! The second dress was nice but again not really her and I knew it as soon as she tried it on. BFF's are like that, I know what she's thinking even when she doesn't LOL! So this time I was on a mission to find her the perfect dress. We went to 3 places before finally finding Almondtree which is a resale store with tons of higher end wedding dresses. Well after picking out about 6 dresses she tried on the first on and we both knew it was the one!! Its sooooo her. My BFF is all of 100lbs and is as I like to call her a "granola girl". She almost never does her hair or makeup.... crazy I know BUT that's why I love her so! The dress is a satin trumpet style dress with a small train. It has a deep V in the front and back and satin buttons all the way down the back. Very chic and timeless!!

So with all the trying on going on I decided to try on my bridesmaid dress.... hahahaha!! Well its beautiful, its actually the dress I am going to wear to renew my vows. The store only had a size 6 and 10 in stock so I grabbed the 6 and ran to the dressing room. I'm usually an 8 but though maybe God would be nice to me that day. :)Well I got in on and after a couple minutes of sucking and tucking Stacie finally got it zipped up for me. After about 3 minutes of not breathing and seeing my reflection I removed the dress.

And so the diet begins!!

Over the last couple months Dustin has had an opportunity to get tickets to the games from work. The kids love it and its fun to do as a family. Last night Bryson ate more than I have ever seen him eat. He had a hot dog, a pretzel, and a ice cream cookie sandwich, not to mention the soda. (I know great mom huh...)

Easter was fun and relaxing for once this year. We only had 2 places to go. The kids got up and we went to my dads where they had an Easter egg hunt and got more goodies than they knew what to do with. Ricki, the amazing cook that she is had so much food that she could have easily fed a small army. After a couple hours it was off to my moms

The scariest day of my life!!

On Saturday like most Saturdays we were a busy, busy family. My friend Kristin is expecting her 2nd baby and was having a shower since this was going to be her first boy! While getting ready our next door neighbors Sean and Tosha invited Dustin and the kids to go swimming at Tosha’s sisters. We had a pool at our house in Surprise and the kids have been dying to go especially since we’ve had such great weather lately! I thought nothing of it and was on my way. I had a great time at the shower but had to rush out since I had a photo shoot for a friend right after. At 3:30 I was about 40 minutes away from the house and got a frantic call from Dustin. He said something like “Bryson was in the pool and he isn’t breathing and they are going to airlift him to the hospital!” I said “I am turning around call me as soon as you know which hospital.” I was surprisingly calm until he hung up and I LOST IT!! Every horrible thought was going through my head. Is he going to be ok? Are we going to be ok? Is he asking for me? What the heck was Dustin doing? I called my sister and then my best friend both said they would meet me at the hospital. I then called Dustin again just as he was stepping onto the helicopter. He said they were taking him to Phoenix Children’s Hospital and that our neighbors had Rylee. So I called my sister again and had her send my brother in-law to pick up Rylee and drove as fast as I could to the hospital.
As soon as I got there I ran into the hospital trying to find him. I felt like I was in turbo mode and that everyone else was moving at the pace of a snail! I FINALLY found them and as soon as I walked into the room the tears came down. Bryson has always been a sick kid. He’s had asthma since he was a year and was hospitalized with the FLU, H1N1, Pneumonia, Broncular Infections etc… So to see him in the hospital is nothing new to us BUT this time was different!! My baby was strapped on a stretcher and was super pale. He looked scared and tired. I went over to him, grabbed his hand, kissed him on his head, and told him how much I loved him. I then looked over at Dustin and saw the fear in his eyes. He said Bryson was doing ok and just then the doctor walked in.
He asked us what happened and I looked at Dustin. I’m sure this was Dustin’s 87th time telling it but I wanted to know too!! He said that there were 8 adults in the pool and that he had walked over to the grill to check on the burgers. He said he heard Rylee scream and that he turned and saw the guys pulling him out of the pool. He said he was blue and that they did CPR. He then said Bryson threw up and was gasping for air. The tears just kept running down my face. I could only imagine how scared Bryson was and also how scared Dustin was. The tech came in to take Bryson to get an x-ray and make sure he didn’t have any broken ribs from the CPR. Dustin asked if he could go with and she said yes. As soon as he got up I gave him a kiss and a hug and I told him how much I loved him. No matter what I didn’t blame him! He’s such an amazing dad and I know he would never do anything to hurt our kids.
Well after watching him for 24 hours he was released and is back to his normal crazy self! I cannot thank God enough for saving him! We are so lucky and are truly grateful for every moment we have.

My BFF had a baby!!

My best friend of forever ok not forever but for the last 13 years has FINALLY become a mommy!! I couldn’t be more excited for her. Unlike me (a control freak) my BFF Stacie wanted to wait to find out what she was having. OMG you are probably thinking what I'm thinking, she's CRAZY!! She's not she's just happy go lucky Stacie and that's why I love her sooooo much!

It happened super fast so fast actually I wasn't even there. :( This was one of the happiest and saddest days of my life I must say BUT I got over it. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Jakob Carson Bundy. He weighed in at 7lbs and 3oz.

Tonight we went and had a super yummy dinner at La Perla Cafe and then we walked over to Glendale Glitters. This year grandma and grandpa Lydic came!!

Cookie Exchange

Today I went with Cari to Shanna's annual cookie exchange. SUPER fun!! I made (ok Dustin made them) chocolate chip walnut pumpkin cookies... YuMmY!!

Here is the recipe

Ingredients
1 cup canned pumpkin
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions
Combine pumpkin, sugar, vegetable oil, and egg. In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt. Dissolve the baking soda with the milk and stir in. Add flour mixture to pumpkin mixture and mix well.
Add vanilla, chocolate chips and nuts.
Drop by spoonful on greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for approximately 10 minutes or until lightly brown and firm.

Ok so while shopping for Halloween costumes in Oct I found my first gray hair!! I was freaked out and even saved it to show Dustin. He for some reason found it very comical, I however did not!! Thanksgiving was so much fun this year! We went to my grandparents that afternoon and then had my in-laws over for Thanksgiving dinner. Dustin cooked like always and just like always he was running a little late. It was super yummy so we forgave him. Unfortunately I somehow forgot to take pictures!!

About a month ago we decided to do something fun outdoors with the kids. So the last 3 weekends we have been going to different mountains around the valley. Since we weren't sure what was going on with Bryson's heart he got to stay home with grandma. This past Sunday we went to Piestewa Peak. I think Rylee likes Camelback better since the rocks are bigger and way more fun to climb on.

EKG update

First thing this morning I called the doctor to find out about the test results and of course she was with a patient so she had to call me back. Uggg!! So after 4 long hours of waiting I missed her call!! Uggg again!! Thankfully she left me a message that said she would fax me his results and that she wanted me to take him to see a Pediatric Cardiologist. She said his EKG came back abnormal. He has a possible Left Ventricular Hypertrophy. (A little scary) So I called the Cardiologist that read the EKG at St Joe’s and made an appointment. His appointment is scheduled for March 3rd so I will keep you posted.

Today was Bryson's EKG...
We went to St. Joe's Hospital today around 11:30 and didn't leave until about 2!! We started out in admitting then waiting room after waiting room. Finally we were taken into this small room where they did the test that took all of....maybe...I don't know...15 sec!! All that and it only took 15 sec!! Oh my...
So...hopefully we will have the results tomorrow or the next day. I'll keep you posted.

Dealing with ADHD

ADHD is a medical condition that affects how well someone can sit still, focus, and pay attention. People with ADHD have differences in the parts of their brains that control attention and activity. This means that they may have trouble focusing on certain tasks and subjects, or they may seem "wired," act impulsively, and get into trouble.

If any of you know my little boy then you know the definition above describes him to a T!! We've been dealing with this for about 2 years. Finally after going through 4 day cares and many trips to the doctor we finally got the diagnose we have been waiting for. We've been contemplating over medication to help him for a long time and have finally decided that this may be the only option we have left. We've tried changing his diet, counseling, sports activities to keep him busy, you name and we've tried it.

So....long story short he starts his medication tomorrow. Wish me luck! Oh and if you have any advise please send it my way!

On our way back from Flagstaff we saw this elk stuck on the side of the road. He just stood there looking at everyone as they passed. I would have had a better picture if it wasn't for the red Jeep!

Christmas was a long one this year. On Saturday we got together with my mom's side of the family. All 30 of us in a small Sun City home. :) It was such a fun night! Bryson got a big truck and Rylee got a treasure chest full of dresses and SHOES!!

Sunday we got together with my Dad, step mom and my sisters. We decided not to exchange gifts this year with them. The kids didn't seem to mind they were having way to much fun chasing Tatum and Tanner around the house.

Christmas Eve was spent with my mom, step dad, grandparents and sister. We ate a very non-traditional meal ...Mexican food. My favorite! The kids got SPOILED!! They got bikes, toy and lot of yummy candy that mom and dad really enjoyed! :)

Christmas day was pretty laid back this year. We were quietly woken up by our two little monsters at about 7:05. Rylee was so upset and thought Santa stole her stocking since it wasn’t hanging up on the fire place. I walked her into the family room to show her that the stockings were much too heavy to hang up and that Santa needed to lay them down. :) She just giggled. This year I made them open presents in an orderly fashion and throw away the wrapping paper before they opened the next present. Needless to say they were not happy and I have been out voted for next year.

Dustin’s mom made a short stop by in the afternoon. I just think it’s so sad that the rest of his family doesn’t care enough to stop by or even call. Even though he says he doesn’t care I know he does.

I got the rest of them!! I just can't say enough about Lis!! Super patient and as anyone with kids knows patients is the key. We had so much fun and Rylee just loves her pictures. She wants to frame all of them and hang them on her bedroom wall.

Saturday we went to Glendale Glitters with my parents. We walked around and went into a couple of the historical houses. We also stopped for some yummy ice cream. Rylee had her always favorite strawberry and Bryson had chocolate chip cookie dough. Yum....yum....

APS Electric Light Parade

On Saturday night we went to see the APS Electric Light Parade. The kids had so much fun. Rylee's favorite float was the Suns Gorilla and of course Bryce loved the Choo Choo Train...
By the end of the show we were all hungry so we stopped and ate some yummy dinner and headed home. The kids were out before we turned the corner.

I have a 3 and 4 year old who were about to hit the 35-40lb mark. I had a really hard time finding a car seat that went above 40 pounds. Since I am totally against the booster seats, I research at least 50 car seats. My goal was to find a 5 point harness seat with a tether in the back to attach to the floor of my SUV. Seat belts are not always reliable and many kids have had abdominal injuries from wearing a seatbelt while in a booster seat. I finally found the Britax Regent. The car seat had everything I was looking for and came in many stylish colors. Anyhow just though I would share what I found. The only one your children can count on is you.
